Manchester MCM, Desert Island Discs Fanzine & Not Another Comic Con

 

Sorry I've had a busy couple of weeks in a row but here are some updates of what I've been up to...

Thank you to everyone at Manchester MCM Comic Con. Special thanks to Nikki Stu and Naniiebim for offering to share their tables with me! I had a really fun weekend. I created new Free Mini Comics to hand out at this event, I really hope you all liked them!

I recently compiled a new open submissions music zine through my blog That Music Zine. The theme was Desert Island Discs, so '8 songs you couldn't live without and why'. It was printed by Rope Press and I'm super pleased with how the yellow and neon pink in mixed together on the cover! I got sent a great variety of entries from illustrators.

Thank you to everyone at Not Another Comic Con in Birmingham on Saturday. It was a first show for the organisers and they did a great job! It was a really lovely day :)

My next convention will be Thought Bubble which has moved to the end of September. There isn't an official map just yet, but I'll be sharing a table in the Millennium Square Marquee, which I believe is the largest. Please come say hi! Manchester MCM Comic Con 2016

 

Hey! I’d like to say thank you to everyone at Manchester MCM Comic Con last weekend! It’s one of my fave MCM’s of the year so it was lovely to be back. I had a laugh sat between Chibby Shibby and Sian Jefferson.

Misc Fits sticker sheets

I'm launching some new Misc Fits merchandise at Manchester MCM Comic Con this weekend. Misc Fits is a series of slice of life short story comics. I needed to design some stickers for the characters to use when they are using their phones to talk to each other - so I thought it would be fun to make full sets for each character.

I will have brand new FREE MINI COMICS to hand out at this event - so please do come by and say hi! You wont have the comic yet, even if you've seen me at a convention already this year.

London MCM Comic Con May 2016

Thank you to everyone at London MCM Comic Con May 2016!! I’m really sorry I was pretty sick for most the weekend and missed a lot of people! James​ did a great job manning the table for me and looked after me in the evenings. Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help! Considering how ill I was, I actually manged to have a fun weekend.

The next comics events will be in July. I’ll be at Orbital Comics (London) on Saturday 9th for Small Press Day (event times and info coming soon) and then Manchester MCM Comic Con 30th-31st (in the Comic Village). See you there!

Misc Fits & Mancstercon 2015

Over the summer I've been working on a new series of slice of life short stories called Misc Fits. You can follow The Sea Apple online with a new page at 12noon every Tuesday and Wednesday via Tumblr, Smack Jeeves or Tapastic. The print copies of the first story arrived early and are now available to order through my Etsy shop. I also have a up to date list of confirmed events I'm attending in autumn in the blog side bar - starting with ICE (International Comics Expo) in central Birmingham on Saturday 5th September. I'll be sharing a table with Laura Watton and you'll be able to find us at table 4 in the 'Innovate' room.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Laydeez Do Comics for the opportunity to sell my work from their table at Mancstercon yesterday and to my parents for the lift to the event. Thank you to everyone who came by to chat or buy comics - the event was lovely and I had a nice time chilling out and meeting some new people.

I'm going to be doing a presentation at the next Laydeez Do Comics Birmingham event. I'll be taking along some of the original Misc Fits pages for people to look at and talk a bit about my current comics process. I don't have the full details on the other 2 presentations yet, but the event itself will be at 7.30-9.30pm on Thursday 1st October at the Green Room Cafebar (opposite the Hippodrome in Birmingham City Center - not far from New Street station)

My next convention will be at ICE - that’s International Comics Expo in Birmingham city center (not far from New Street) on Saturday 5th September 2015. Laydeez Do Comics Birmingham is meeting next week! 6pm on Monday 3rd August - Guest speakers are Selina Locke, Hunt Emerson, Charlotta Salmi & Alex Birch - more info about the event at the LDC Birmingham Facebook page. (you don’t have to be female to attend the event)

Annie and the Tectonic Plates

Annie and the Tectonic Plates are a band of aliens from my comic Giant Rhinos In Space. I designed a fictional gig poster to take to Manchester MCM Comic Con at the end of July. You'll be able to find my table in the Comic Village (maps haven't been released yet - but should available online nearer the event and at at the show)

The posters should be available to order though Etsy in a couple of weeks time. Print copies of issues 1-3 are available to buy individually or in bundle offers.

Manchester MCM Comic Con 2014

 

Thank you to everyone we saw at Manchester MCM Comic Con! It was a really great event and I had a brilliant time at the table with Sarah Fogg. The stormy weather meant it was a soggy convention, but that didn’t seem to get in the way of the fun! (Photos of Sarah)

I launched #2 of Giant Rhinos In Space at the event. Most items in the photos are available to order from my Etsy shop or Sarah’s Etsy shop.  (and the Adventure Time/Attack On Titan poster on the far right is by our table neighbour Ryuuza)

The next event we’re attending is Comica Comiket at The British Library on Saturday 16th August! We can also now confirm we have a half table at the Bristol Comic and Zine Fair this year. (full list of events list on the blog sidebar)
