Hometown by Laydeez Do Comics Birmingham

Laydeez Do Comics are a group who hold regular events around the UK and internationally. Creators are invited to do presentations about comics or their own work. LDC Birmingham has been running for a year and to celebrate Charlotte Bailey compiled an anthology with the theme Hometown. The profits will go towards bringing speakers from further afield to Birmingham.

I will have copies of the book available from my table at events (see the blog sidebar for an up to date list). You can order Hometown online through the LDC Big Cartel site. 

I contributed a 2 page comic and the wrap around cover illustration. Photographed pages are by Charlotte Bailey, Yen Quach and Bryony Attenburrow. The comic was printed locally with a risograph machine by Rope Press.

Grimes Risograph Fanzine

I compiled a Grimes Fanzine through my music blog www.thatmusiczine.tumblr.com - I was sent some beautiful illustrations, mostly through the UK small press comics scene. The zine was printed locally at Rope Press using a risograph machine with florescent pink ink. The zines are now ready to launch at True Believers Comic Festival this Saturday. Annie and the Tectonic Plates

Annie and the Tectonic Plates are a band of aliens from my comic Giant Rhinos In Space. I designed a fictional gig poster to take to Manchester MCM Comic Con at the end of July. You'll be able to find my table in the Comic Village (maps haven't been released yet - but should available online nearer the event and at at the show)

Giant Rhinos In Space #3 in print!

Giant Rhinos In Space is a comic about a band who get kidnapped by aliens and find themselves competing in a extraterrestrial x-factor. You can read the story so far via Smack Jeeves or Tapastic.
 
Issue 3 has just been released in print and you can order online through Etsy. Each issue is £3.50 or you can choose a bundle offer - any 2 issues for £6 (save £1) or all 3 issues for £7.50 (save £1.50)

The comics will also be available at London MCM Comic Con - Friday 22nd-Sunday 24th May.

You’ll be able to find ‘Sammy Borras & Sarah Fogg’ at table CG6 in the Comic Village (maps and ceiling banners are usually available at the show). There will be FREE MINI COMICS to hand out - the secret password is ‘Do you have a business card?’

New Comics For Manchester MCM Comic Con

I've printed 2 new books ready to take to Manchester MCM Comic Con on the 19th-20th July. Giant Rhinos In Space #2 and a open submissions Gorillaz Fanzine. I will be sharing a table with Sarah Fogg - we will also have some new free mini comics to hand out and the brand new summer pirate themed issue of What's The Time Mrs. Woolf?

We have added a comics event over the summer - we will be at Comica Comiket at The British Library on Saturday 16th August 2014! (See the right hand side of the blog for current event list)

Giant Rhinos In Space #1 Cover Design

 

I designed a new wrap around cover for Giant Rhinos In Space #1. The first issue will contain all 30 pages of chapter 1. I an hoping to have the print version available at the end of March. This comic is also being published online weekly as a webcomic. 3 new pages of the story are added every Friday afternoon. Click here to start reading.

Midlands MCM Comic Con 2014

Sarah Fogg and I had a good day at Midlands MCM Expo yesterday. It was great to see so many friends and meet new people. Thank you to everyone who came by the table for a chat and/or purchased comics and zines.

Ink + Paper #4

Ink + Paper #4 will be released at Thought Bubble next weekend. I contributed a slice of life comic about beat boxing. (Cover illustration by David O'Connell) You'll be able to find Ink + Paper on table 61 in New Dock Hall  I will be at the convention with the Inspired Comics Collective on table 93 in the Allied London Hall.

This Is Not A Serious Music Publication Halloween Playlist

 

In october I made a new mini (A6) music zine with Sarah Fogg. We picked out 12 Halloween songs and then illustrated 6 each. (Everything Everything and Tom Lehrer preview illustrations are by Sarah) The zine is available to order online through my Etsy Shop.

Children Of The Night

 

 

Children Of The Night is a new Goth themed anthology I created with Sarah Fogg. We both contributed 3 short story comics each and the cover was illustrated by Sarah.
